  • If I am crowned Mrs. Nationwide: …I would use my platform to promote awareness and acceptance of autistic people in our schools, communities, and work places. Being well informed of all neurodiverse people creates an environment in which people are understood, accepted, and celebrated for their different abilities. Cultivating settings where people are treated with equity benefits everyone, and encourages us to unlock the true potential we all carry; no matter any titles that we are labeled.

  • Bio:  Brandi Nicole Edens, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, enjoys refurbishing furniture, reading, coaching cheerleading, decorating and writing.  As the Head Varsity Cheer coach, her teams have won all 5 division in all competitions they have entered, as well as being the Nebraska State Cheer State Runner-Ups in 2022.  Her teams won 2 divisions, and placed 2nd at summer cheer camps.
    .
    She graduated from both the University of Nebraska Omaha and Concordia University. At the University of Nebraska Omaha, she achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Education. She achieved a Master of Education in Literacy from Concordia University, along with her ESL Endorsement. Brandi is the only member of her family to not only graduate from college, but also to hold a Master’s degree! And, she has been nominated for Teacher of the Year!

    With Jeremy, her husband of 17 years, (a decorated Marine who has survived multiple deployments) they lead a proud military family who are always active in many military events.  In the community, Brandi is active with the Nebraska Wounded Warriors Hockey program, youth cheer events in Bennington, as well as serving as the Bennington Community Autism Liaison.
    .
    With her platform of “Autism Awareness and Acceptance”, Brandi is raising, supporting and educating her own son who is autistic. She states, “With more and more children being diagnosed with autism everyday, it’s important for communities to understand the impact this has on raising, educating, and support people with autism.”  Every year, as a educator, she has students with autism, which directly impacts her daily choices on what approach to take to help these students reach their maximum potential.
