  • Scholastic Ambition: To obtain her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Currently working as a professional pet stylist / pet salon leader for PetSmart

  • If I am crowned Miss Nationwide: I would have the opportunity to expand my message of acceptance and importance of advocacy; and mentorship throughout the USA by partnering with schools and programs like GSA’s and PFLAG.
    .
  • Bio: Christina King, a native of Charleston, South Carolina enjoys singing, dancing, cooking, baking, hiking, kayaking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys volunteering as the treasurer of her church and the local chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). Christina serves as the Co-Executive Director of Miss Illinois/Miss America Preliminary Pageant.

    A graduate of Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Illinois, she is currently working on her General Education degree at Carl Sandburg College also in Galesburg. After graduating from Carl Sandburg College, her plans are to continue studying toward her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Christina works as a professional pet stylist and pet salon leader for PetSmart.

    Christina serves on the board of the Galesburg Community Relations commission where they are tasked with educating the general public on issues of race relations and discrimination in the city. She also serves on the Knox County Health Board where she advises several medical providers on issues and the need of the LGBTQIA+ community.
    .
    She won the Extra Effort Youth award while in school for the many hours of community service she performed. Christina is an active speaker at rallies throughout the Midwest on topics of women’s rights, Black Lives Matter, Trans Rights and as well as speaking out against LGBTQ book bannings. She has also been the Keynote Speaker for a recent Trans Day of Remembrance event.

    Christina is passionate about animal rescue, having started her community service career and her work career at a local humane society. She loves mentoring young people, especially those who identify as LGBTQIA+. You can also find her volunteering at the local food pantries and as well as working to better her community in whatever the currents needs are.
    .
    Christina’s previous pageant experience includes serving as Miss South Carolina Queen USA 2016, and being named 2nd Runner up to Miss Illinois Gay USofA where she was awarded the Evening Gown award. In 2020, she reigned as Miss Trans Illinois and competed for the national title of Miss Trans USA and was awarded the Miss Congeniality title.

    Christina’s Personal Platform during her reign will be “Saving Lives and Empowering Young People by Mentoring LGBTQIA+ Youth”. Her Platform will allow her to support and empower the youth of her community, state and nation. According to the Trevor Project, LGBTQIA+ youth who have at least one accepting adult in their lives are 40% less likely to report a suicide attempt. Her goal is to be that accepting adult, and to help create more safe spaces for these students. She will utilize the work of mentoring and speaking to schools, and students about the importance of living as your true authentic self across Illinois.
